’5 Years / 5 Questions’ with Audrey Kawasaki by Thinkspace.
check out Q's andA's by the other attending artists on Sour Harvest.
Tell us a little bit about your piece for Thinkspace’s ’5 Year Anniversary Show’ this November?
It’s about flowy looseness and unpredictability. Random lines and colors. Intuition. Impulse. About inconsistency… How things change and pass.
What were you doing back in 2005 when Thinkspace started?
I just began showing at galleries around that year, so i feel like we started and grew together. I’m happy to still be a part of Thinkspace.
Name 5 things you can’t live without in your studio?
A window with a breeze, a carpet/rug to lie on, laptop for muses and music, cats to lounge with, all my paints and brushes and panels and tools.
Where do you hope to be 5 years from now?
I will keep painting. Hopefully have a book out by then. New projects. More shows in other countries. Travel. Live comfortably but with new thrills and excitement and change.
What have you got coming up in 2011?
A 3 or 4 person show at Merry Karnowsky in Spring and a four-person show at Thinkspace in Fall.
.. making ..

Will there be any prints of your piece available at the show? I really like how you have combined the rough background structure with the silky smooth coloring for this piece. It's all so calm and peaceful. Great choice of colors :D

Hurt
Having been a fan of your work all the way back to " horn girl " , there is always one or two in a collection that jumps out at me, but this one... I couldn't stop looking at it, as a whole it's a beautiful image but if you focus in on the center girl covering the two on the sides... At least for me, the piece brings up very real feelings of heartache and lost love and it's wonderful, I truly hope this piece becomes a print so I can catch that feeling more often. Your a wonderful talent Ms. Kawasaki thank you.November 5 2010, 02:45:58 UTC 1 year ago
