warning to new buyers! please make sure you are signed on at the time of sale. past print sales have sold out very VERY quickly. because this is a limited edition, the chance of actual purchase is very slim. so please know that it is not guaranteed. i apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
there is also a book/catalog that will be released (most likely a couple weeks after the show begins). check the makings HERE.
"Cal State University's cutting-edge museum arm, Grand Central Art Center, and Nathan Spoor present a comprehensive survey exhibition that explores and documents a select section of modern contemporary artists which make up the vibrant core of creativity existing in the current art world.
Conceptually speaking, the term “suggestivism” refers to the ability of an individual to pursue their purpose with an amplified understanding and sensitivity. The artists involved represent precisely this - a wave of purpose, working within the more fluid aspects of narrative or figurative arenas. Through the mere power of suggestion, the magic is transferred from one to another, engaging the world at large from the most vivid and evocative of visual realms.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a grand print piece that includes the artwork in the exhibition, as well as a fascinating time capsule of studio shots and compelling interviews conducted by Spoor with each artist during the three-year curating period (2008 - 2011)."
past couples weeks ive been addicted to making felt plushy dolls. its such a refreshingly fun little hobby! first few were fairly simple, but decided to take it up a notch by oil painting the face and hands on canvas, and then sew them together with felt.
illustrator, May Ann Licudine, sent me this sweet package, along with an original drawing! she sent it to me because after completion she though it resembled me (explained in her blog). how sweet! so i sent her this in return.
this one for a friend, Ally. i asked her if she had anything in mind, and she said triceratops skeleton! so here it is! :)
yup! these were a lot of fun. inking with solid black ink and the xacto knife cutting process is so meditative and fulfilling.

Brooches: if you ordered a brooch and havent received it yet, it's still on its way! over half the orders have been sent out and are currently working on the rest. (the brooches and prints are being handled by different people.) there has been some setbacks with the packaging/shipping of brooches which caused some delays. and we are running on a very small staff (basically one and sometimes two persons) so Thankyou so much for being patient. its much appreciated.
if you still have concerns, feel free to email us at mail(at)audrey-kawasaki.com with the subject "brooches".
~hello~ this will be our second and last print sale for this year through the website! (there will be another print edition for Outre Gallery shows in October, and that will be sold/handled through the gallery.)
warning to new buyers: please make sure you are signed on at the time of sale. also past print sales have sold-out very VERY quickly. because there is a limited edition, the chance of actual purchase is very slim. so please know that it is not guaranteed. i apologize in advance for any inconvenience.
i really enjoyed the newest issue of Hi-Fructose Magazine. Vol.16. i mean, i like all their issues, but was pleasantly surprised with this one, since some of the featured artists i dont see printed often, and are very up my alley. ( ..take a look..Collapse )
wanted to put a note out there since we got a number of emails asking if more brooches will ever be available. we realized there might be a percentage of people assuming that they're sold out without checking. BUT there are still a small number of brooches available for purchase on the shop! this was a large number of items, and a very different beast from the normal print sales.
ALSO just wanted to say thankyou thankyou to everyone who ordered a brooch! :D orders are being processed and packaged currently, and we want to get them out to everyone as soon as possible, BUT please understand that this is a very very small operation. only one person (with occasional help from a second person) is handling the production, packaging, sales, processing, customer service, and shipping.. for all domestic and international orders!
this is the reason we put in the announcement for customers to "please allow up to 3-4 weeks to be shipped" it's a larger number of items being handled by a smaller team. so thankyou for being understanding and patient with the speed of these shipments! :)
